MEET OUR SPEAKER: Shagah Zakerion
Shagah Zakerion is an independent consultant who works with individuals, organizations and companies to improve processes and create systems for sustainable success. Simply put - she loves to make awesome happen.
Her diverse and dynamic experience, matching communication strategies with bold ambition, makes her an ideal consultant to tackle any challenge. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Tulsa’s Young Professionals, a workforce initiative of the Tulsa Regional Chamber, whose mission is to attract and retain young professionals in the Tulsa region and develop the next generation of business and community leaders. Shagah oversaw the organization, taking membership from a few thousand in 2011 to nearly 9,000 members under her leadership and vision.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 2010 with a degree in Public Relations and double minor in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies, Shagah’s first job was at the Tulsa Regional Chamber as Program Coordinator and then as Program Manager for TYPros. She served the organization for nearly six years before stepping out on her own.
Shagah is a member of Tulsa Area United Way Women’s Leadership Council and Emerging Leaders Society, and is a board member of the Union Schools Education Foundation. She also serves on the Bike Share, OU Tulsa, RAW Space Tulsa, and Resonance Advisory Committees. She was honored as the youngest recipient of the 2013 Journal Record’s Achievers Under 40 and an honoree for IonOklahoma’s 2014 30 Under 30. She is active with the League of Women Voters and is a graduate of the Tulsa Area United Way’s NexTulsa program.
